What do you do with your old mobile phone after an upgrade?
This may sound like a silly question but do you have a draw or a shelf at home where your old mobile phone now resides? Most of us do because what are you supposed to do with old model once you've got your new one? It's estimated that there are around 90 million unused mobile phones in the UK and there are a number of different things you could be doing which could help you, the environment and some else.
The most popular route to disposal has to be the second hand market. There are plenty of people out there who do not have an upgrade policy for their mobile but want the latest model. There are 2 options available in this instance, the first of which is to buy a new, contract free hand set but this can prove very expensive. The second is to buy second hand and it's no real surprise that one of the best places to do this is eBay. There are also a number of different phone buying services available but eBay will net you 20% - 30% more.
Another route to disposing of your old mobile phone is giving it away. One of the best ways to do this must be the freecycle network. This is a great system for not only finding a home for your old mobile phone but pretty much anything you think of. You know the saying - "One man's rubbish and another man's treasure" well freecycle is where that becomes a reality. You can advertise your old mobile for free and you'll be doing someone else a favour whilst doing your bit for the environment.
Of course, you could just leave it sitting in the draw at home, to be discovered in years to come and then just throw it away....but what a waste!
